TOLEDO, Ohio:\u00a0<\/strong>Local artist Bernadine Rais invites audiences to step into the enchanting world of her latest exhibition, \u201cSouvenirs,<\/em>\u201d a captivating collection of nocturnal landscapes. On view from Nov. 13, 2024, to Jan. 26, 2025, the exhibition will be featured in the Robert C. and Susan Savage Community Gallery at the Toledo Museum of Art (TMA).<\/p>\n

A free public artist reception will be held on Friday, Nov. 15, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Community Gallery, with light refreshments and remarks from Rais at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n

Rais\u2019s oil paintings depict suburban landscapes at night, showcasing the serene beauty of neighborhoods, open fields and dimly lit streets. With meticulous brushwork, she captures the ethereal quality of these scenes, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the contemplative atmosphere of twilight.<\/p>\n

\u201cI aspire to bring forth a sense of familiarity and comfort,\u201d Rais shared. \u201cI hope to cultivate connections that transcend the canvas, inviting contemplation within the stillness of night and offering reassurance that viewers are not alone.\u201d<\/p>\n

The exhibition includes an interactive mindfulness experience, encouraging visitors to pause and reflect. As they engage with Rais\u2019s work, they are invited to explore how their own memories resonate with the images, fostering a deeper connection between personal experiences and the art.<\/p>\n

Thanks to the generosity of Robert C. and Susan Savage, The Robert C. and Susan Savage Community Gallery provides a space for local and regional artists to exhibit and sell their work, helping them gain exposure and connect with art enthusiasts.<\/p>\n
