Calls for healing, justice, and accountability after Columbus hate crime <\/strong><\/p>\n

You may have seen the horrific, violent video of a brutal assault against a Columbus mom while she was waiting for her kids to get off the school bus. If you didn\u2019t, let me tell you that this happened over two weeks ago; the perpetrators are known; and the Columbus Division of Police still has not filed charges.<\/p>\n

Due to the violence, the video can be found on the Ohio Immigrant Alliance website https:\/\/ohioimmigrant.org\/2025\/04\/04\/calls-for-healing-justice-accountability-after-columbus-hate-crime\/<\/a> or YouTube \u201cAlleged hate assault on Muslim woman in Ohio\u201d by CAIR- Council on American Islamic Relations.<\/p>\n

Ohio Immigrant Alliance’s Executive Director Lynn Tramonte has issued the following statement:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cJust like this Ohio mom, I have waited outside my home for my kids to get off the school bus. It\u2019s a time of happy anticipation, where you get to see your little ones after hours apart and hear about their day. Being violently attacked outside of your home \u2014 what is supposed to be a safe place \u2014 by your own neighbors destroys everything about the idea of home. We should be looking out for each other; that\u2019s how we build strong communities. This family deserves healing and justice, and the Columbus community deserves accountability. The Columbus Division of Police must take a strong stance against all acts of physical violence, and make it clear that anti-immigrant hatred has no home in this city.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
