Dr Durant, Superintendent of Toledo Public Schools and Christina Rodriguez of Mom\u2019s House<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

On Thursday, May 1, 2025, the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board (MHRSB) of Lucas County held its 11th<\/sup> annual Recognition Ceremony. This year the event was held at the Toledo Zoo.<\/p>\n

The awardees were:<\/p>\n

Dr. Tanvir Singh of the University of Toledo.<\/strong> He received an award for the Alcohol & Other Drugs Professional of the Year.<\/strong> He was nominated by Stephanie Calmes of UTMC.<\/em><\/p>\n

Afaf Doumani of NAMI of Greater Toledo.<\/strong> She received the Advocate of the Year <\/strong>award and was nominated by Marriah Kornowa of NAMI of Greater Toledo<\/em><\/p>\n

James Rye of the Zepf Center. <\/strong>He received the Peer Involvement of the Year <\/strong>award. He was nominated by Craig Gebers of the Zepf Center.<\/em><\/p>\n

Debra Riley-Jackson of The Fair Housing Center. <\/strong>She was awarded the Diversity & Inclusion Award for Leadership.<\/strong> She was nominated by Stacy Stubblefield of the Thomas M. Wernert Center (TMWC) <\/em>and Michael Carter of the MHRSB of LC.<\/em><\/p>\n

Amy Kusner of the Thomas M. Wernert Center. <\/strong>She received the Health Professional of the Year<\/strong> award. She was nominated by the Thomas M. Wernert.<\/em><\/p>\n

Andrea Mendoza-Loch, a Board Trustee for the MHRSB of LC.<\/strong> She received the Advocate Hall of Fame<\/strong> award and was nominated by Robert Kasprzak of the MHRSB of LC.<\/em><\/p>\n

Two First Responders<\/strong> were awarded this year:<\/p>\n

Officer Kelli Russell of the Toledo Police Department.<\/strong> She was nominated by Courtney Burrow of the Zepf Center.<\/em><\/p>\n

And Officer Mohamad-Aly Nasser of the Toledo Police Department.<\/strong> He was nominated by Julie Embree of the Toledo-Lucas County Homelessness Board.<\/em><\/p>\n

While the Teen Leadership Awards<\/strong> went to Michelle Johnson, Chloe Lard\u2019e, Ava Newman, Mikayla Ramsey, and Stephanie Williams of Toledo Public Schools (TPS).<\/strong> They were nominated by Gayle Lake of TPS.<\/em><\/p>\n

And the other Teen Leadership Award<\/strong> went to Drew Bensman, Olivia Colvin, Liam Kurasz, and Madison Roytek of the Swanton Area Community Coalition (SACC).<\/strong> They were nominated by Andrea Smith of SACC.<\/em><\/p>\n
