I had the chance to finally eat there this Friday, May 16, 2025, at Patron Saints Brewery (4730 W. Bancroft, Toledo, OH) with some friends. Their food is primarily gluten-free, and for those of us that can’t handle gluten, it was a huge treat!!! I had a huge steak arepa that was filled with meat, cheese, and a green salsa that was all stuffed in a corn arepa. Arepas are grilled cornmeal patties, cut in half, and most often served with cheese, butter, avocados, or whatever you are interested in stuffing it with. Yet, the best and most unique item I had on their menu was the Chicken Tikka Masala Empanada. This item will definitely have me coming back for more! Because if you know me, you know I love Indian food. So, the combination of Indian and Venezuelan food in one bite was amazing. And Casero’s empanada was larger than your usually Mexican empanada, more like an Ecuadorian sized one. It was fried to perfection, and the Chicken Tikka Masala sauce was perfect because it just melted right into the corn empanada and made you want to savory every bite and buy more. It was amazing! No wonder Casero Kitchen was able to move from being a pop-up to a food truck. Their food menu may be small, but their food is amazing. Please come out and support local food trucks, the owner Ramiz, and the businesses that welcome local Latinx entrepreneurs. Linda Alvarado-Arce
