According to Dave Choberka, Mellon Foundation curator for university learning at the University of Michigan Museum of Art, “these editions marked the evolution and history of the organization” and “they started out as very much a U of M student organization” (Bhatt & Mejia, 2025). Raquel Bravo was recently there and said she attended because “I identified with those students which reflected my own experiences around that time in Toledo” (Ohio). One of the artists featured in the collection, according to Bhatt & Mejia (2025), is George Vargas, founder of the RAM collective, a former member of La Raza, and a non-traditional student who went from working in farms and factories to studying at the University of Michigan.

El Colectivo de Arte y Medios de La Raza llega a su fin en la Universidad de Michigan (Ann Arbor)

Por la Dra.
