\"\"<\/a>EXPERIENCE THE TASTE & LOCATION OF AVESTRUZ 419 – TAPAS & TEQUILA<\/p>\n

Avestruz means \u201cOstrich\u201d in Spanish, and Toledo has a new Latinx restaurant that has just opened and entered the scene: Avestruz 419\u2014Tapas & Tequila. They are located in the heart of Toledo, Ohio, in the recently developed Ostrich Towne at 915 N. Summit Street. The first night I dined there with a friend, which was a Thursday, Ostrich Towne was fully packed with people playing bingo in the pedestrian alleyway and a light show that, as my friend shared with me, \u201creminded her of a block on Fremont Street in Las Vegas.\u201d Avestruz 419 that night also hosted an \u201copen\u201d jam session with Jon B. Roth playing guitar (see photo), and anyone interested in playing could simply show up and join in. According to their website https:\/\/avestruz419.com\/, Avestruz 419 was built on the \u201cSpanish tradition\u201d of small plates (tapas). Chef Aaron Lawson has remarkably elevated Latinx cuisine by blending it with local produce and catering to those with gluten, dairy, and nut intolerances, as well as vegans. He has \u201ccreated a playful & inviting menu utilizing sustainably sourced ingredients,\u201d featuring tapas and tequila, and combining regional and global cuisines. For example, I ordered three gluten-free tacos: one made of fried walleye, seasoned perfectly, nestled in a nicely browned corn tortilla; another with grilled shrimp; and a third with chorizo (Mexican seasoned sausage). We also ordered their chorizo & cheese fries (highly recommend), fried green tomatoes, and two desserts\u2014their gluten-free Tres Leches with Mango (totally amazing) and a gluten-free fried doughnut (more like a churro) served with chocolate mousse (a must). I have now visited this place three times in just one week, and I highly encourage everyone to check out Avestruz 419 and Ostrich Towne!<\/p>\n

Avestruz significa “Ostrich” en espa\u00f1ol, y Toledo cuenta con un nuevo restaurante latino que acaba de abrir y se ha consolidado como un referente en la escena gastron\u00f3mica: Avestruz 419\u2014Tapas & Tequila. Se encuentra en el coraz\u00f3n de Toledo, Ohio, en el recientemente desarrollado Ostrich Towne, ubicado en 915 N. Summit Street. La primera noche que cen\u00e9 all\u00ed con una amiga, un jueves, Ostrich Towne estaba abarrotado de gente jugando al bingo en el callej\u00f3n peatonal y con un espect\u00e1culo de luces que, como me cont\u00f3 mi amiga, “le record\u00f3 a una cuadra de la calle Fremont en Las Vegas.” Esa noche, Avestruz 419 tambi\u00e9n ofreci\u00f3 una sesi\u00f3n de improvisaci\u00f3n abierta con Jon B. Roth tocando la guitarra (ver foto), y cualquier persona interesada en tocar pod\u00eda simplemente presentarse y unirse. El chef Aaron Lawson ha elevado notablemente la cocina latina, al combinarla con productos locales y atender a personas con intolerancias al gluten, l\u00e1cteos y nueces, y a los veganos. Ha creado un men\u00fa divertido y atractivo con ingredientes de origen sostenible, que incluye tapas y tequila, y combina cocinas regionales e internacionales. Por ejemplo, ped\u00ed tres tacos sin gluten: uno de lucioperca frita, perfectamente sazonada, en una tortilla de ma\u00edz bien dorada; otro con camarones a la parrilla; y un tercero con chorizo \u200b\u200b(salchicha mexicana sazonada). Tambi\u00e9n pedimos sus papas fritas con chorizo \u200b\u200by queso (\u00a1muy recomendables!), tomates verdes fritos y dos postres: su Tres Leches con Mango sin gluten (\u00a1incre\u00edble!) y un donut frito sin gluten (parece m\u00e1s bien un churro) con mousse de chocolate (imprescindible).
