The Northwest Ohio & Southeast Michigan BBB, based in Toledo, serves 24 counties and is part of a nationwide network that builds confidence in the marketplace by promoting honesty, transparency, and accountability between businesses and their customers.

When Lane Montz took over as President/CEO, a little more than three years ago, he says, “one thing that stood out immediately was the disconnect between our traditional BBB presence and what is clearly a very active Latino business community in our region.” According to Montz, “Our Latino businesses – indeed, the entire community – contributes enormously to the economic and cultural strength of Northwest Ohio, yet many Latino-owned businesses have not historically been as connected to the BBB as other populations,” and Montz’s wants to change that “because the BBB isn’t a government agency—it’s a community-based, nonprofit, organization that helps good businesses stand out, and it helps customers find those trustworthy businesses.”

Earning a BBB Accreditation signals a commitment to integrity, fair treatment, and responsiveness, which are values that run deep in the Latino business community. Through the BBB, Latino business owners can take advantage of five key benefits:

The Trusted Business Seal that shows customers they can be confident in your business.

Brand amplification through marketing and visibility.

Community partnerships and recognition through local BBB-endorsed events.

Business education and insights through workshops, webinars, and training programs.

Exclusive member savings to reduce costs and boost profitability.

President/CEO Lane Montz’s goal for the BBB “is to build lasting relationships and make sure Latino entrepreneurs see the BBB as a true partner—one that shares their values, supports their growth, and helps every honest business thrive. I have no doubts that strengthening connections between the BBB and our Latino community will significantly benefit both, and I can’t think of a better place to start than partnering with La Prensa.”

Beginning in January, President/CEO Lane Montz and his staff will produce a digital (online only) monthly consumer/public newsletter that will contain fraud & scam education and warnings, while also promoting various community programs, including those related to mental health, and they will be publishing information in La Prensa- so stay posted.

Better Business Bureau® and Better Business Bureau Ethics Foundation, Inc.
7668 King’s Pointe Rd., Toledo, OH 43617
Tel: 419-578-6000

BBB.org

7668 King’s Pointe Rd., Toledo, OH 43617

Tel.: 419-578-6000

BBB.org

In the photo are President/CEO Lane Montz y Nataly Mena.
