La Prensa, Inc. had a chance to catch up and talk with\u00a0Jaime Salvador Lupercio<\/strong><\/a>, the Sound Designer<\/em> for the first show of the Tony Award\u00ae-winning\u00a0Children’s Theatre Company<\/a>\u00a0(CTC), the bilingual musical\u00a0Go Dog, Go! \u2022 Ve Perro \u00a1Ve!<\/em><\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0which will play from January 20 – February 22, 2026, on CTC\u2019s UnitedHealth Group Stage (2400 Third Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN). Go, Dog. Go! \u2022 Ve Perro \u00a1Ve!<\/em>!\u00a0<\/em>has a run time of 75 minutes with no intermission. This production is best enjoyed by younger audiences, and \u201clap passes\u201d are available for children 3 years and younger.<\/p>\n

Lupercio is a 2nd<\/sup> generation, according to his \u201cAbout Me\u201d on https:\/\/www.jlpsounds.com\/<\/a> \u201c3rd<\/sup> if you believe my great grandmother,\u201d \u201cChicane American, queer, enby, nerd, composer, sound designer, and theatre artist.\u201d He was a sound designer and composer in Minneapolis (MN); credits include\u00a0Valour<\/em>\u00a0at the Guthrie, and\u00a0Dinner for One<\/em>\u00a0at the Jungle. This is his first show at Children\u2019s Theatre Company.<\/p>\n

He is a graduate of The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and is currently the head of sound at Ohio University (OH). The interview La Prensa, Inc. had with Lupercio was quite lively and joyful as he spoke of his love for theater, the art, and his love for stories and his family roots. He is truly an inspiration for those looking to get into the field of theater and sound, or to teach this subject at a university level. We need more people of color, like him, with the energy and passion to teach and be an example of how Chicane American, queer, enby, and nerds can become professionals in their field and mentors of tomorrow\u2019s leaders.
