Tuesday, March 17, 2026, Toledo City Council approved two resolutions and one ordinance to confirm its support for immigrants and newcomers in the community.<\/p>\n<p>The Resolutions and Ordinance that passed are:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Resolution: Urging Constitutional Conduct During Federal Immigration Enforcement <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Calls on federal immigration agents operating in Toledo to identify themselves clearly and operate transparently.<\/li>\n<li>Encourages the use of body-worn cameras during interactions with residents.<\/li>\n<li>Recommends that federal agents avoid face coverings and clearly display agency identification.<\/li>\n<li>Urges federal agencies to restore full training standards for immigration enforcement officers.<\/li>\n<li>Calls for federal immigration agents to respect constitutional rights in civil and criminal enforcement actions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Resolution: Establishing Special Use Permit Requirements for Detention Facilities to the Toledo City Plan Commission for Study &amp; Review <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provides oversight of detention operations.<\/li>\n<li>Directs the Toledo City Plan Commission to review proposed amendments to zoning regulations.<\/li>\n<li>Defines \u201cdetention facilities\u201d within the Toledo Municipal Code.<\/li>\n<li>Requires special use permits for any new, expanded, or modified detention facility.<\/li>\n<li>Establishes standards requiring facilities to meet:\n<ul>\n<li>Safety requirements<\/li>\n<li>Health standards<\/li>\n<li>Building code compliance<\/li>\n<li>Legal compliance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Requires detention facilities to demonstrate adequate space for detainees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ordinance: Establishing Immigration Status and City Resources Policies <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensures city services cannot be denied based on immigration status.<\/li>\n<li>Prohibits city employees from asking about immigration status unless required by law.<\/li>\n<li>Restricts the use of city funds, personnel, or equipment for civil immigration enforcement.<\/li>\n<li>Requires City Council approval before entering any federal immigration enforcement agreements (287(g)).<\/li>\n<li>Prohibits the use of city property areas for federal immigration operations.<\/li>\n<li>Bars city employees from sharing immigration status information except when required by law.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Toledo City Council did not pass and is still reviewing the \u201cOrdinance: Creating Protections for Access to Schools and Preventing Harassment of Jessica Molina<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El martes pasado, 17 de marzo de 2026, el Concejo Municipal de Toledo aprob\u00f3 dos resoluciones y una ordenanza para confirmar su apoyo a inmigrantes y personas reci\u00e9n llegadas en la comunidad.<\/p>\n<p>Las resoluciones y la ordenanza que fueron aprobadas son:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Resoluci\u00f3n: Urge que los agentes federales de inmigraci\u00f3n respeten la Constituci\u00f3n durante la aplicaci\u00f3n de leyes de inmigraci\u00f3n.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pide que los agentes federales de inmigraci\u00f3n en Toledo se identifiquen claramente.<\/li>\n<li>Pide que los agentes usen c\u00e1maras en sus cuerpos cuando interact\u00faan con residentes.<\/li>\n<li>Recomienda que los agentes no cubran sus caras y muestren su identificaci\u00f3n.<\/li>\n<li>Pide que los agentes de inmigraci\u00f3n tengan entrenamiento completo para hacer su trabajo bien.<\/li>\n<li>Pide que los agentes respeten los derechos constitucionales.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Resoluci\u00f3n: Pide que la Comisi\u00f3n de Planificaci\u00f3n de Toledo estudie nuevas reglas para centros de detenci\u00f3n.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Permite supervisi\u00f3n de las operaciones de detenci\u00f3n.<\/li>\n<li>Pide a la Comisi\u00f3n de Planificaci\u00f3n de Toledo revisar cambios en las reglas que dicen qu\u00e9 tipos de edificios se pueden tener en cada parte de la ciudad.<\/li>\n<li>Define \u201ccentros de detenci\u00f3n\u201d en el C\u00f3digo Municipal de Toledo, que es donde est\u00e1n escritas las leyes de la ciudad.<\/li>\n<li>Requiere un permiso especial de la ciudad para construir, ampliar o modificar un centro de detenci\u00f3n.<\/li>\n<li>Dice que los centros de detenci\u00f3n deben cumplir con estas reglas:\n<ul>\n<li>Seguridad para las personas<\/li>\n<li>Condiciones de salud adecuadas<\/li>\n<li>Reglas de construcci\u00f3n de la ciudad<\/li>\n<li>Otras
