The FREE community event is held at Monroe Street Church, 3613 Monroe Street, Toledo. All are invited to attend and to stay for a reception; the venue is accessible.<\/p>\n<p>Cosponsored by Toledo Public Schools and the UToledo Black Student Union, the event features a student art show and information about local social action opportunities as varied as the City of Mayor&#8217;s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (Save Our Community), ACLU, Ohio Equal Rights, Interfaith Blood Drive, Veterans for Peace, several UToledo programs, Islamic Networks Group, Sacred Grounds gardening, Mockingjay Movement\u2014and many others.<\/p>\n<p>At the heart of the event, fifty representatives of groups join voices to present Dr. King\u2019s call for people to band together across boundaries to work not only for civil rights but more generally for human rights. Delivered one year to the day before his assassination, Dr. King\u2019s Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence motivated the American public across lines that had formerly divided groups. The annual event brings together groups across Toledo and Northwest Ohio who are working to protect Constitutional rights and to oppose the devastating effects of violence on ordinary people throughout the world through a wide variety of initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>46 grupos de Toledo rompen el silencio sobre la violencia en el evento anual de MLK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Toledo, Ohio, 13 de abril de 2026: La novena edici\u00f3n anual de Nuestro momento de romper el silencio: Una lectura comunitaria de &#8220;Un momento para romper el silencio&#8221; del Dr. Martin Luther King se llevar\u00e1 a cabo el domingo 19 de abril; las puertas se abrir\u00e1n a las 2:30 p. m. Y el programa comenzar\u00e1 a las 3:00 p. m. Este evento comunitario GRATUITO se celebrar\u00e1 en la Iglesia de Monroe Street, ubicada en el 3613 de Monroe Street, en Toledo. Todos est\u00e1n invitados a asistir y a quedarse para la recepci\u00f3n posterior; el recinto cuenta con accesibilidad para personas con discapacidad.<\/p>\n<p>Copatrocinado por las Escuelas P\u00fablicas de Toledo (TPS) y la Uni\u00f3n de Estudiantes Negros de la UToledo (UToledo BSU), el evento incluir\u00e1 una exposici\u00f3n de arte estudiantil e informaci\u00f3n sobre oportunidades locales de acci\u00f3n social, tan variadas como las ofrecidas por la Oficina del Alcalde para la Seguridad y Participaci\u00f3n Vecinal (iniciativa Save Our Community), la ACLU, Ohio Equal Rights, la Colecta Interreligiosa de Sangre, Veterans for Peace, diversos programas de la UToledo, el Islamic Networks Group, el proyecto de jardiner\u00eda Sacred Grounds, el Mockingjay Movement y muchos otros.<\/p>\n<p>Como eje central del evento, cincuenta representantes de distintos grupos unir\u00e1n sus voces para presentar el llamado del Dr. King a que las personas se unan, trascendiendo fronteras y divisiones, para trabajar no solo por los derechos civiles, sino \u2014de manera m\u00e1s amplia\u2014 por los derechos humanos. Pronunciado exactamente un a\u00f1o antes de su asesinato, el discurso del Dr. King titulado M\u00e1s all\u00e1 de Vietnam: Un momento para romper el silencio moviliz\u00f3 al p\u00fablico estadounidense, superando las l\u00edneas divisorias que anteriormente hab\u00edan separado a los distintos grupos sociales. Este evento anual congrega a grupos de todo Toledo y del noroeste de Ohio que trabajan para proteger los derechos constitucionales y para oponerse a los efectos devastadores de la violencia sobre la gente com\u00fan en todo el mundo, a trav\u00e9s de una amplia variedad de iniciativas.<\/p>\n<p>Se invita a los miembros de los medios de comunicaci\u00f3n a asistir al ensayo general, que tendr\u00e1 lugar el s\u00e1bado 18 de abril, de 10:00 a 11:15 a. m., en la Iglesia de Monroe Street (3613 Monroe Street).
