CATFEST 2026 <\/strong>was held this year on May 17, 2026, at The Golden Road (3560 Dorr St., Toledo, OH). This festival is in honor of Cathryn Lambert (<\/strong>\u00a1Presente<\/strong>!),<\/strong> who on May 15, 2015, was \u201cfound in a pool of blood on the garage floor of her Rossford, Ohio home, with blunt force trauma to her head.\u201d This annual event is a reminder that domestic violence is real, that it is sometimes hidden from the public view, and that there are communities and events such as this one for healing.<\/p>\n

In the United States, an estimated 10 million people experience domestic violence every year. According to the\u00a0National Coalition Against Domestic Violence<\/a>, about 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner. About 1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men experience severe intimate partner physical violence, sexual violence, and\/or partner stalking with injury, PTSD, contraction of STDS, etc. Domestic violence can happen to anyone of any age and can occur in both heterosexual and same-sex relationships.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Domestic violence can also include violence against children, parents, or the elderly, and can take on several forms, including and not limited to physical, verbal, emotional, mental, spiritual, and sexual abuse. Abusers often believe that the abuse is an entitlement, acceptable, justified, or unlikely to be reported. Victims often feel trapped by the abuser in domestic violence situations through isolation by their abuser from family and friends, lack of finances, fear, shame, cultural acceptance, and power and control. Victims can develop physical disabilities, mental health problems, and chronic health issues, as well as severe psychological disorders. If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic violence, several resources are available to help. Call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233).<\/p>\n

CATFEST supports Little Blessings Veteran Outreach. <\/em>Little Blessings is healing with horses. CATFEST 2026 <\/strong>se celebr\u00f3 este a\u00f1o el 17 de mayo de 2026 en The Golden Road (3560 Dorr St., Toledo, OH). Este festival es en honor a Cathryn Lambert (\u00a1Presente!),<\/strong> quien el 15 de mayo de 2015 fue “encontrada en un charco de sangre en el suelo del garaje de su casa en Rossford, Ohio, con un traumatismo craneal contundente.” Este evento anual recuerda que la violencia dom\u00e9stica es real, que a veces est\u00e1 oculta a la vista p\u00fablica y que existen comunidades y eventos como este para la sanaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

En Estados Unidos, se estima que 10 millones de personas sufren violencia dom\u00e9stica cada a\u00f1o. Seg\u00fan la Coalici\u00f3n Nacional contra la Violencia Dom\u00e9stica<\/a>, unas 20 personas por minuto son maltratadas f\u00edsicamente por una pareja \u00edntima. Aproximadamente 1 de cada 4 mujeres y 1 de cada 9 hombres sufren violencia f\u00edsica severa por parte de la pareja \u00edntima, violencia sexual y\/o acoso a la pareja con lesiones, TEPT, contracci\u00f3n de ETS, etc. La violencia dom\u00e9stica puede afectar a cualquier persona de cualquier edad y puede ocurrir tanto en relaciones heterosexuales como entre personas del mismo sexo. <\/strong><\/p>\n

La violencia dom\u00e9stica tambi\u00e9n puede incluir la violencia contra ni\u00f1os, padres o personas mayores, y puede adoptar varias formas, incluyendo y no limit\u00e1ndose a abuso f\u00edsico, verbal, emocional, mental, espiritual y sexual. Los abusadores a menudo creen que el abuso es un derecho, aceptable, justificado o poco probable que se denuncie.
