It started with a free TARTA shuttle service that went from the International Park at the Docks to the Glass City Metropark. TARTA services were much needed on this beautiful day, since the parking lot was jammed packed with cars all up and down the streets, and families out enjoying the numerous playgrounds at the Glass City Metropark with their children or on the riverwalk. NAMIWalks this year had, for the first time, Dogs for Difference, which are therapy dogs, support ponies from Lily Creek Farms, and a special appearance from the Distracted Haunted House. NAMI’s “Monsters for Mental Health” were even present this year, as they walked among the supporters, cheering people on and waving their hands in the air. Community vendors were present, as well as music to motivate, and family-friendly activities. Community members were encouraged to attend, bring friends and family, and to help celebrate hope, connection, and mental health awareness. All the proceeds from NAMIWalks stay local and help support NAMI of Greater Toledo’s no-cost mental health education, support groups, advocacy, and family navigation services serving thousands across the region.

To learn more, visit: NAMIWalks: About NAMI Greater Toledo, call 419-243-1119, or email info@namitoledo.org.
