\"\"<\/a>CLEVELAND, September 3, 2026: The Cleveland Institute of Music and the Conservatorio Nacional de M\u00fasica of the Dominican Republic, represented by its Ministry of Culture, marked the beginning of a new international partnership Thursday with a signing ceremony and concert celebrating the shared power of music education, artistic collaboration and cultural exchange.<\/span><\/p>\n

CIM President and CEO Paul Hogle, Executive Vice President and Provost Scott Harrison, Dean Jennifer Call, and Distinguished Professor of Piano Antonio Pompa-Baldi joined Roberto \u00c1ngel Salcedo, Minister of Culture of the Dominican Republic, and Amaury S\u00e1nchez, Vice Minister of Creativity and Artistic Training, for the event.<\/p>\n

The new partnership builds on several years of relationship-building, spearheaded by Pompa-Baldi, and includes a CIM faculty delegation to Santo Domingo last spring and Vice Minister S\u00e1nchez\u2019s visit to CIM last winter. The collaboration will create new opportunities for faculty development, curriculum building, artistic exchange, and student training between the two institutions.<\/p>\n

Over the coming years, CIM faculty will work alongside their counterparts at the Conservatorio as it strengthens its academic and artistic capacity and moves toward becoming a degree-granting institution. Together, the institutions will explore curricular partnerships that draw on the distinctive strengths of each school while creating pathways for talented Dominican students to pursue their studies at CIM.<\/p>\n

“There is a Dominican saying that captures the spirit of this moment beautifully: ‘Quien a buen \u00e1rbol se arrima, buena sombra le cobija \u2014 ‘He who leans against a good tree is sheltered by good shade.” Shared Hogle at the ceremony: “In choosing to walk with the Conservatorio Nacional, we lean into a strong and rooted institution, and together we create shade\u2014opportunity, mentorship, and artistic growth\u2014for talented young musicians on both sides of the Caribbean.”<\/p>\n

The agreement establishes three areas of cooperation: promoting the exchange of faculty, students, and academic programs between CIM and the Conservatorio; developing joint degree pathways between the schools; and identifying and preparing top students to enroll at CIM. Additionally, the Ministry of Culture and CIM will seek to promote cultural and artistic exchange between the Dominican Republic and Cleveland.<\/p>\n

The initiative is led by the Dominican Ministry of Culture with further support from the Fundaci\u00f3n Sinfon\u00eda, in partnership with the Cleveland Institute of Music. Pompa-Baldi\u2019s participation is supported in part through the U.S. Department of State\u2019s Fulbright Specialist Program.<\/p>\n

The signing ceremony concluded with a brief concert, underscoring the partnership\u2019s central purpose: bringing musicians and institutions together through the shared language of music.<\/p>\n

Cleveland Institute of Music and Dominican Republic\u2019s Conservatorio Nacional de M\u00fasica<\/strong><\/p>\n

CLEVELAND, September 3, 2026: El Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) y el Conservatorio Nacional de M\u00fasica de la Rep\u00fablica Dominicana, representado por el Ministerio de Cultura, marcaron este jueves el inicio de una nueva alianza internacional mediante una ceremonia de firma y un concierto de celebraci\u00f3n que destac\u00f3 el poder de la educaci\u00f3n musical, la colaboraci\u00f3n art\u00edstica y el intercambio cultural.<\/p>\n

Participaron en el evento Paul Hogle, presidente y director ejecutivo del CIM; Scott Harrison, vicepresidente ejecutivo y rector; Jennifer Call, decana; y Antonio Pompa-Baldi, profesor distinguido de piano, junto a Roberto \u00c1ngel Salcedo, ministro de Cultura de la Rep\u00fablica Dominicana, y Amaury S\u00e1nchez, viceministro de Creatividad y Formaci\u00f3n Art\u00edstica.<\/p>\n

La nueva alianza es el resultado de varios a\u00f1os de construcci\u00f3n de relaciones institucionales, impulsadas por Pompa-Baldi, e incluye una delegaci\u00f3n de profesores del CIM que visit\u00f3 Santo Domingo la pasada primavera, as\u00ed como la visita del viceministro S\u00e1nchez al CIM el invierno pasado. La colaboraci\u00f3n abrir\u00e1 nuevas oportunidades para el desarrollo docente, el fortalecimiento curricular, el intercambio art\u00edstico y la formaci\u00f3n estudiantil entre ambas instituciones.<\/p>\n

Durante los pr\u00f3ximos a\u00f1os, profesores del CIM trabajar\u00e1n junto a sus colegas del Conservatorio mientras la instituci\u00f3n contin\u00faa fortaleciendo sus capacidades acad\u00e9micas y art\u00edsticas y avanza hacia su consolidaci\u00f3n como instituci\u00f3n otorgante de t\u00edtulos universitarios. Asimismo, ambas instituciones explorar\u00e1n alianzas curriculares que aprovechen las fortalezas distintivas de cada escuela y creen oportunidades para que estudiantes dominicanos talentosos contin\u00faen sus estudios en el CIM.<\/p>\n

“Hay un dicho dominicano que refleja perfectamente el esp\u00edritu de este momento: ‘Quien a buen \u00e1rbol se arrima, buena sombra le cobija'”, expres\u00f3 Hogle durante la ceremonia. “Al elegir caminar junto al Conservatorio Nacional, nos apoyamos en una instituci\u00f3n s\u00f3lida y profundamente arraigada, y juntos creamos sombra, es decir, oportunidades, mentor\u00eda y crecimiento art\u00edstico, para j\u00f3venes m\u00fasicos talentosos a ambos lados del Caribe.”<\/p>\n

El acuerdo establece tres \u00e1reas de cooperaci\u00f3n: promover el intercambio de docentes,\u00a0 estudiantes y programas acad\u00e9micos entre el CIM y el Conservatorio; desarrollar programas\u00a0 conjuntos de licenciatura entre ambas instituciones; e identificar y preparar a estudiantes\u00a0 sobresalientes para su futura matr\u00edcula en el CIM. Asimismo, el Ministerio de Cultura y el CIM\u00a0 buscar\u00e1n fomentar el intercambio cultural y art\u00edstico entre la Rep\u00fablica Dominicana y Cleveland.<\/p>\n

La iniciativa est\u00e1 liderada por el Ministerio de Cultura de la Rep\u00fablica Dominicana, con el apoyo\u00a0 adicional de la Fundaci\u00f3n Sinfon\u00eda, en colaboraci\u00f3n con el Cleveland Institute of Music.
