Grandes Ligas inform\u00f3 el viernes que 275 de los 975 jugadores que en el primer d\u00eda de la temporada regular aparecen en los planteles ampliados de 28 peloteros, las listas de lesionados, la lista restringida y la lista de licencias por fallecimiento de un familiar directo, nacieron fuera de los 50 estados.<\/p>\n

NEW YORK (AP): For the second straight season, more than 28 percent of all major leaguers come from a country other than the United States.<\/p>\n

Major League Baseball<\/em> reported Friday that 275 of the 975 players who appear on the first day of the regular season on expanded rosters of 28 players, the injured lists, the restricted list and the list of licenses for the death of an immediate family member, were born outside the 50 states.<\/p>\n

The percentage was 28.2%, down slightly from 28.3% last year and 28.4% in 2020, when the squad cap expanded from 25 to 30 players during the coronavirus pandemic before being restored to 26 last year. This season’s active limit starts at 28 before returning to 26 on May 2.<\/p>\n

The Dominican Republic<\/em> led with 99 players, followed by Venezuela<\/em> with 67 and Cuba<\/em> with 23. It was followed by Puerto Rico<\/em> with 16, followed by Mexico (13), Canada (12), Colombia (10), Japan (seven), Panama (six), Curacao (five), South Korea (four) and Bahamas (three).<\/em><\/p>\n
