\"\"On Tuesday, October 11, 2022, Hispanic leaders from across Northeast Ohio joined Orchestra musicians, staff, and board members for a special networking event held at Severance Music Center to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.<\/p>\n

\u201cHistorians tell us \u2018Demographics is destiny,\u2019 and destiny is now upon us with 65 million people who identify as Hispanics in the United States (18.7% of the population)\u201d said Jos\u00e9 C. Feliciano<\/em>, Chairman of the Hispanic Roundtable<\/em> in his welcoming remarks.<\/p>\n

Feliciano commended\u00a0Andr\u00e9 Grimillet<\/em>, President and CEO of the Cleveland Orchestra,<\/em> who speaks Spanish fluently, and the Cleveland Orchestra for continuing and deepening its relationship with the Hispanic community.<\/p>\n

The orchestra hosted some 65 Hispanic leaders and their guests at Reinberger Chamber Hall in celebrating the Cleveland Orchestra\u2019s Hispanic Heritage leadership event, \u00a0which featured a chamber music program, including \u201cLa Paloma\u201d<\/em> and \u201c Mi Viejo San Juan\u201d <\/em>among other pieces.<\/p>\n

\"\"Attendees included: the Vice Consul of Spain, Manuel L\u00f3pez<\/em>, the Consul of M\u00e9xico (Roberto Nicolas V\u00e1zquez Consul<\/em>),\u00a0four judges (Judge Jos\u00e9 Villanueva, Judge Marilyn Cassidy, Judge Jazmin Torres-Lugo<\/em>, and Judge Pablo Castro<\/em>), as well as representatives and leaders from the Hispanic Roundtable, Latinas, the Young Latino Network, the Spanish American Committee, Hilda de Burgos Cultural Center, the Cleveland Ballet (Gladisa Guadalupe),<\/em> and the Latin Us Theater Group (Monica Torres).<\/em><\/p>\n

The event was a high energy, spectacular event.<\/p>\n

Mr. Grimillet emphasize that this special concert was not a one-off, and the orchestra is developing a meaningful, long-lasting relationship with the Hispanic community. He underscored that \u201cThe music is the magic, and we welcome all Hispanics with open arms.\u201d<\/p>\n

The orchestra is developing a comprehensive outreach program to the Hispanic community.<\/p>\n
