CLEVELAND (June 21, 2023)\u2014<\/strong>City Stages,\u00a0the Cleveland Museum of Art\u2019s\u00a0acclaimed\u00a0free\u00a0outdoor\u00a0summer concerts featuring the best in global music, has returned.\u00a0These block parties will take place in front of Transformer Station on\u00a0consecutive\u00a0Wednesdays, July 19 and 26, at 7:30 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“We are thrilled to present two acclaimed bands known for their unique interpretations of contemporary Afro-Caribbean music,” said Gabe Pollack, director of performing arts. \u201cWe are excited to see the community come together for this free, outdoor dance party in Ohio City\u2019s\u00a0Hingetown\u00a0neighborhood.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meridian Brothers<\/a>\u00a0is a five-piece Colombian band focused on reinterpreting Latin tropical styles with a psychedelic and experimental sensibility that retains the sense of fun and celebration essential to the music.\u00a0The group\u2019s\u00a0music uses popular Latin American rhythms augmented by sampling techniques, elaborate effect processing, and\u00a0Eblis\u00a0\u00c1lvarez\u2019s\u00a0quirky and theatrical vocals, which channel imaginary characters with both pathos and humor.<\/p>\n

Battle of Santiago<\/a>, based in Toronto, creates a unique sound by combining classic Afro-Cuban rhythms and vocals with a distinctly Canadian art-rock spirit and sensibility, subtle electronica,\u00a0and rumbas.<\/p>\n

Arrive early and grab dinner and a drink at one of\u00a0Ohio City\u2019s bars or restaurants or visit one of the local shops<\/a>. Seating is limited\u2014bring camp chairs and enjoy an evening of music and dancing in the street.<\/p>\n

Parking is available in the\u00a0Lutheran Hospital parking lot located at West 28th Street and Franklin Boulevard. FREE to all.<\/p>\n

Transformer Station is located at 1460 West\u00a029th Street\u00a0(at the corner of Church Avenue), Cleveland, OH 44113. Normal hours are Wednesday to Sunday, 11:00\u00a0a.m. to 5:00\u00a0p.m., but Transformer Station will remain open until 9:00\u00a0p.m. during City Stages.<\/p>\n
