For thousands of years, artists and scientists have sought how the human eye perceives color in the natural world. Each has relied on the other&#8217;s experiments, secret knowledge, practices, and documented texts to build on what we know today about how humans see and comprehend color. <em>Wavelengths\u00a0<\/em>considers five artists&#8217; use of shape and repetition to create both simple and complex approaches to color.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnn Arbor\u2019s summers are always vibrant and festive. The A2AC Gallery mirrors this energy with a show featuring\u00a0playful work, full of color and form.\u201d &#8211; Thea Eck, Gallery Director<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>WAVELENGTHS <\/u><\/em><\/strong><strong><u>Programming<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Supporting the exhibition is a robust series of programming at the A2AC:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Opening Night &#8211; July 14, 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The opening celebration of the colorful exhibition <em>Wavelengths<\/em>, featuring work by 5 artists in the A2AC Gallery\u00a0from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Free admission. No registration required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A2AC PlayLab &#8211; August 13, 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A2AC PlayLab is a new no-fee family program in the A2AC Gallery. Join us Sunday, August 13 for &#8220;Colors in the\u00a0Jungle&#8221; storytime program with Ann Arbor storyteller Laura Raynor from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon. Then stay and\u00a0create a sound and color-based art project. This program is best for ages 3-6 years of age alongside their\u00a0caregivers. A2AC PlayLab is free and pre-registration is required. Limit 14 families.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Curator\/Artist Talk &#8211; August 19, 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Join us in the A2AC Gallery for a conversation with the artists from <em>Wavelengths <\/em>alongside A2AC Exhibitions\u00a0Director and curator Thea A. Eck on August 19 at 11:00 am. Learn more about each artist&#8217;s studio practice and\u00a0how the use of color adds complexity or simplicity to their design practice.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>Color Shop<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The A2AC will be transformed into a color-filled space this summer! Immerse yourself in a vibrant, color-filled\u00a0wonderland where art and shopping unite in a unique pop-up event. Step into a world bursting with hues, where\u00a0every corner unveils a captivating palette that will awaken your senses. Discover a carefully curated collection of\u00a0artworks by talented local artists, each piece celebrating the beauty and power of a specific color.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Opening Night &#8211; July 14, 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The opening celebration will take place along with the exhibition opening for <em>Wavelengths<\/em>, featuring work by\u00a041 shop artists in the A2AC Shop from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Free admission. No registration required.<\/p>\n<p>The public opening reception for both exhibitions will be held in the A2AC Gallery at 117 W.
