Extension Lucas County is hosting an open house at Toledo Botanical Garden November 17 <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

TOLEDO: The Ohio State University Extension Lucas County<\/em> will be celebrating its new location with an open house on Friday, November 17, 2023. The public is invited to learn more about the services and programs available to Lucas County residents.<\/p>\n

The event will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Toledo Botanical Garden, Metroparks Toledo, 5403 Elmer Drive, Toledo.<\/p>\n

The open house includes remarks from area leaders, meeting OSU educators and staff, and information on area programs such as master gardener volunteer, 4-H camp, cooking and nutrition, pressure canner gauge testing, plus light refreshments.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the past forty years, our main office has been located downtown at One Government Center,\u201d said Megan Arnold, Area Leader for Extension Lucas County<\/em>. \u201cThis new location provides us with increased visibility, parking, and accessibility to connect with county residents. We are excited to partner with Metroparks Toledo for our new location at the Toledo Botanical Garden.\u201d<\/p>\n

The extension service \u2013 operated with county, state, and federal funds, and grants \u2013 provides programming and educational information on Agricultural and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, 4-H Youth Development, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP-ED) and Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP).<\/p>\n

\u201cWe offer education on many topics such as home gardening, lawn care, food preparation and preservation, first-time home buying, mindfulness, 4-H leadership, camping opportunities, positive youth development, in-school and after-school programming, and learning how to prepare inexpensive and nutritious meals,\u201d said Ms. Arnold.<\/p>\n
