The remembrance will feature a musical performance by Grammy Award-winner <em>BeBe Winans<\/em>, along with student performances by Tri-C\u2019s <em>Creative Arts Dance Academy<\/em> and <em>The Cleveland Chorale.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>During the event, two Tri-C students will present essays that reflect on a quote from King\u2019s 1965 commencement address at Oberlin College: <em>\u201cThe time is always right to do what is right.\u201d<\/em> The two essayists are <em>Amulya Tiralapuram<\/em>, a student government senator and Phi Theta Kappa member who hopes to work in health care, and <em>Tatiana Raudales,<\/em> a student in the Illustration program who hopes to transfer to a four-year university to earn a bachelor\u2019s degree in English with an art studio minor.<\/p>\n<p>The event will also recognize 12 Tri-C students for their scholarships from the <em>Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Scholarship Fund,<\/em> established in 1987, and the <em>Cleveland Teachers Union Endowed Scholarship Fund<\/em><em>,<\/em> established in 1995.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTri-C was founded on the idea of accessible education, which was a significant part of Dr. King\u2019s hopes and dreams,\u201d Tri-C President <em>Michael A. Baston<\/em> said. \u201cHe believed that everyone should have a path toward a broad education to build relationships across racial lines, have a beloved community and make a life for themselves.
