Latino teens can build better futures with a series of upcoming scheduled events and scholarship opportunities over the next few weeks.<\/p>\n

Toledo Tomorrow<\/em> is hosting a Teen College and Career Fair at the East Toledo Family Center<\/em>, 1020 Varland Ave., Wednesday, February 21, 2024, 5 to 7 p.m. The event invites youth in eighth to twelfth grade and their parents to explore career paths, learn about employers, and meet with college representatives. The event also promises prizes throughout the evening. Toledo Tomorrow is a nonprofit group focused on education attainment in Northwest Ohio.<\/p>\n

The annual Latino Youth Summit<\/em> will take place Tuesday, March 12, 2024, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the University of Toledo\u2019s Thompson Student Union Auditorium. The free event is open to all Latino ninth through twelfth grade students in Northwest Ohio. Schools usually bus student groups to the event, but individual students can attend if accompanied by a parent.<\/p>\n

The event offers a chance to learn more about UT programs and majors, meet UT faculty and staff, as well as hands-on activities to prepare students for life beyond high school. A free lunch also will be provided.<\/p>\n

President\u2019s Summit Award scholarship recipients will also be announced. Ten incoming freshmen will receive a $2,000 scholarship and free room and board for the first year. Winners must attend the Latino Youth Summit and carry a 3.0 GPA.<\/p>\n

February 15, 2024 is the deadline to apply for college scholarships at both Bowling Green State University and the University of Toledo. BGSU\u2019s scholarship portal can be accessed at https:\/\/bgsu.academicworks.com<\/a> and UT\u2019s online applications can be found at https:\/\/utoledo.scholarships.ngwebsolutions.com\/CMXAdmin\/Cmx_Content.aspx?cpId=1586<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Greater Toledo Community Foundation<\/em> scholarships are also open for application, but the deadline is February 11. Scholarships are available to graduating high school students and current college students. A FAFSA is not required to apply. The application portal is www.toledocf.org\/scholarships\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Latins United<\/em> and the Spanish American Organization<\/em> recently opened applications for their annual scholarships given to deserving Latino high school and college students.
