The Lorain County JVS Adult Career Center, in collaboration with the Lorain Public Library System and the Elyria Public Library System, is excited to offer Adult Diploma Program (ADP) information sessions at local library locations on December 18, 2024. These sessions provide an opportunity for residents to learn about earning their state-issued high school diploma while gaining valuable industry credentials in some of the state’s most in-demand career fields.

The Adult Diploma Program is designed for individuals aged 18 and older, who did not earn either a high school diploma or a GED. This program combines job training with a supportive environment to help participants unlock new career possibilities.

As part of the program, participants can choose from several Career Development Programs, including:

• Phlebotomy Technician: A comprehensive course combining classroom instruction and clinical experience to prepare students for careers in hospitals, clinics, and labs. Students will also be eligible to take the National Healthcare Association (NHA) national exam upon completion.

• State Tested Nurse Aide (STNA): Focused on entry-level healthcare roles, this program emphasizes hands-on training in communication, safety, personal care, and nursing basics. Graduates qualify to take the Ohio STNA exam.

• Automotive Service Technician: Students learn diagnostic and repair skills across various systems, preparing for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification and employment opportunities in the auto repair field.

• Welding/Fabrication: This program introduces participants to electric arc welding techniques, progressing through advanced skills like TIG and MIG welding. Training culminates in American Welding Society (AWS) qualification tests, equipping students for the high-demand field of welding.
