BOWLING GREEN, Ohio, July 14, 2025: Building on its overall momentum, Bowling Green State University is experiencing significant growth in the number of students committing to the University for Fall 2025 compared to last year, while also seeing continued interest from prospective students around the region, including in Michigan.
As part of its commitment to keeping education accessible, BGSU this fall will offer new undergraduate students from greater Detroit in Wayne County, Michigan, an in-state tuition pricing scholarship, providing the same cost of attendance as Ohio residents. Interested students who apply between July 7-Sept. 1 will have their application fee waived. Early applicants will also receive maximum merit scholarship consideration.
As part of the scholarship, new, first-time and transfer students from Wayne County with a minimum 3.00 cumulative high school grade point average or 20 ACT or 1040 SAT score will receive $7,988 from BGSU to cover out-of-state fees. As part of The Falcon Tuition Guarantee, the scholarship will be locked in for up to four years at the No. 1 public university in the Midwest students said they would choose again.
“We are excited to expand access to our top-ranked student experience and immersive learning opportunities to Wayne County residents,” said Cecilia Castellano, vice president for enrollment management at BGSU. “This scholarship will empower more students from the Detroit area to earn a quality education in a comprehensive and connected learning community that supports their career and life goals.”
The scholarship’s offering in metro Detroit comes after a similar launch in nearby Lenawee and Monroe counties in Fall 2022, where BGSU has seen considerable growth in students from southeast Michigan enrolling in sought after programs in STEM and healthcare fields like architecture, aviation, business, computer science, construction management, engineering and nursing.
Located in one of America’s safest college towns, BGSU offers a top-ranked student experience and innovative, in-demand academic programs, including the nation’s first “AI + X” bachelor’s degree program that blends a core education in artificial intelligence with a secondary discipline in one of six fields. The University also offers its one-of-a-kind Life Design program, which empowers students with the tools and connections to shape their college experience while supporting their life and career goals.
