Raices (Roots) is a screen-printing brand that specializes in Chicano t-shirts and tote bags. I met the artist Anthony Ortega (see picture), at the Latino Education and Advocacy Days (LEAD), “Telling Our Stories – Our Way, Our Voice: Latino Representation in the Arts, Media, and Education” Summit XIV that was held at California State University, San Bernadino (CSUSB), a few weeks back. Mr. Ortega’s t-shirts and tote bags are reflective of his commitment and knowledge of our Chicano civil rights history and our beauty. Currently, Mr. Ortega has two of his designs up for sale: “Chicano Power” & “Chicana: Brown is Beautiful” (see photos). Mr. Ortega is also a lecturer and public speaker on the Chicano movement, history, and our Chicano “roots” on the west coast of the U.S.
