Uncharitable will change you, and it truly did change me. After I finished watching the film at WGTE, I called and texted many of my fellow nonprofit colleagues, both locally and nationally, and asked them to watch it. And to my surprise, my New York colleague and Professor of Law told me that he uses this film in his Financial and Fundraising for Nonprofit Organizations class because “it’s powerful and full of truth and deep insight.” This film is great on many different levels and for many different people, like for philanthropists, board members, social enterprise leaders, corporate community impact leaders, grantors, nonprofit employees, government leaders, and frankly, anyone interested in making a difference in our community and world.
This film puts a twist on everything you’ve ever thought or been taught about charities and nonprofits and the ways they should operate. This event was free, open to the community, and was held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at WGTE (1270 S. Detroit Ave., Toledo, Ohio). The film’s Producer/Director, Stephen Gyllenhall, creates a powerful film in only 90 minutes, where they interview three executives of the most successful U.S. charities that were shut down by conservative charity watchdogs. Charities that were doing good work but were destroyed by the way they were spending their money, which is the same way for-profit corporation spend their money and shows how the elimination of the organizations also destroys the lives of those who depended on and needed the services. Uncharitable demands that “charities,” non-profits, be freed from the traditional spending constraints to truly change the world. NO topic is more crucial and timelier than this one. Uncharitable te cambiará, y a mí realmente me cambió. Después de ver la película en WGTE, llamé y envié mensajes a muchos colegas del sector sin fines de lucro, tanto locales como nacionales, para pedirles que la vieran. Para mi sorpresa, mi colega de Nueva York, profesor de Derecho, me comentó que utiliza esta película en su clase de Finanzas y Recaudación de Fondos para Organizaciones sin Fines de Lucro porque “es impactante, llena de verdad y ofrece una profunda reflexión.” Esta película es excelente en muchos sentidos y para muchas personas diferentes: filántropos, miembros de juntas directivas, líderes de empresas sociales, líderes de impacto comunitario corporativo, donantes, empleados de organizaciones sin fines de lucro, líderes gubernamentales y, francamente, cualquier persona interesada en marcar la diferencia en nuestra comunidad y en el mundo.
Esta película le da un giro a todo lo que creías saber o te habían enseñado sobre las organizaciones benéficas y sin fines de lucro y su funcionamiento. Este evento, gratuito y abierto a la comunidad, se celebró el viernes 14 de noviembre de 2025 en WGTE (1270 S. Detroit Ave., Toledo, Ohio). El productor y director del documental, Stephen Gyllenhaal, crea una impactante película de tan solo 90 minutos, en la que, entrevista a tres ejecutivos de las organizaciones benéficas estadounidenses más exitosas, clausuradas por organismos conservadores de control del sector. Estas organizaciones, que realizaban una labor encomiable, fueron destruidas por la forma en que gestionaban sus recursos, similar a la de las grandes empresas con fines de lucro.
