The Bilingual Musical Spectacle Based on P.D. Eastman’s Classic Book

La Prensa, Inc. had a chance to catch up and talk with Jaime Salvador Lupercio, the Sound Designer for the first show of the Tony Award®-winning Children’s Theatre Company (CTC), the bilingual musical Go Dog, Go! • Ve Perro ¡Ve!, which will play from January 20 – February 22, 2026, on CTC’s UnitedHealth Group Stage (2400 Third Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN). Go, Dog. Go! • Ve Perro ¡Ve!! has a run time of 75 minutes with no intermission. This production is best enjoyed by younger audiences, and “lap passes” are available for children 3 years and younger.
The cast of Go, Dog. Go! • Ve Perro ¡Ve! features Kimberly Richardson* as MC Dog, Cooper Lajeunesse as Blue Dog, Zachary David Hodgkins as Red Dog, Anna M. Schloerb (Member, CTC Acting Cohort) as Yellow Dog, Julia Diaz (Member, CTC Acting Cohort) as Green Dog, and Eric Samuel Romero as Hattie/Spotted Dog. The understudies for Go, Dog. Go! • Ve Perro ¡Ve! include Becca Claire Hart* (MC Dog, Yellow Dog), Keegan Robinson (Blue Dog, Hattie/Spotted Dog), and CTC Acting Company member Janely Rodriguez* (Red Dog, Green Dog). Victor Zupanc‡ and Joe Cruz‡ will provide live music onstage.

Lupercio is a 2nd generation, according to his “About Me” on https://www.jlpsounds.com/ “3rd if you believe my great grandmother,” “Chicane American, queer, enby, nerd, composer, sound designer, and theatre artist.” He was a sound designer and composer in Minneapolis (MN); credits include Valour at the Guthrie, and Dinner for One at the Jungle. This is his first show at Children’s Theatre Company.
He is a graduate of The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and is currently the head of sound at Ohio University (OH). The interview La Prensa, Inc. had with Lupercio was quite lively and joyful as he spoke of his love for theater, the art, and his love for stories and his family roots. He is truly an inspiration for those looking to get into the field of theater and sound, or to teach this subject at a university level. We need more people of color, like him, with the energy and passion to teach and be an example of how Chicane American, queer, enby, and nerds can become professionals in their field and mentors of tomorrow’s leaders.
