(Toledo, OH)- Claire’s Day started as a one-day children’s book festival in honor of Claire Lynsey Rubini. Today, it is nearly a full month of literary experiences for children and their families. It is celebrated in the schools throughout the month, the community, and this year it was celebrated at the downtown (main) Toledo/Lucas County Public Library on May 2, 2026, where they occupied the first and second floor with resource tables and award recognitions.
Claire’s Day Maumee is staged on the third Saturday of May at the Maumee Branch of the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library system.
The awards, C.A.R.E. Awards, have grown from 25 honorees to over 1300 annually. This award celebrates students selected as the most improved readers. Each C.A.R.E. Award recipient receives a personalized certificate and a coupon to choose a book written or illustrated by one of the participating authors and illustrators. The school visit outreach program, developed in the third year of the event, partners with over 30 schools in the Greater Toledo Area who host guest authors and illustrators to read their books to the students at their schools. Overall, Claire’s Day impacts over 25,000 children and their families annually, and this year was no different, as the library was filled with small children dressed up and ready to receive their awards and books to read over the summer.

(Toledo, OH) – El Día de Claire comenzó como un festival de libros infantiles de un día en honor a Claire Lynsey Rubini. Hoy en día, es casi un mes completo de experiencias literarias para niños y sus familias. Se celebra en las escuelas durante todo el mes, en la comunidad, y este año se celebró en la Biblioteca Pública principal del centro de Toledo/Lucas County el 2 de mayo de 2026, donde ocuparon la primera y segunda planta con tablas de recursos y reconocimientos de premios.
Claire’s Day Maumee se representa el tercer sábado de mayo en la sucursal de Maumee del sistema de bibliotecas públicas del condado de Toledo-Lucas.
Los premios, Premios C.A.R.E., han crecido de 25 galardonados a más de 1300 anualmente. Este premio celebra a los estudiantes seleccionados como los lectores más mejorados. Cada galardonado con el Premio C.A.R.E. recibe un certificado personalizado y un cupón para elegir un libro escrito o ilustrado por uno de los autores e ilustradores participantes. El programa de divulgación de visitas escolares, desarrollado en el tercer año del evento, colabora con más de 30 escuelas del área metropolitana de Toledo que reciben a autores e ilustradores invitados para leer sus libros a los estudiantes de sus escuelas. En general, el Día de Claire afecta a más de 25.000 niños y sus familias cada año, y este año no fue diferente, ya que la biblioteca estaba llena de niños pequeños disfrazados y listos para recibir sus premios y libros para leer durante el verano.
