Cleveland, OH, June 26, 2022: Urban Community School (UCS) has been awarded a Top Workplaces 2022 honor by cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer Top Workplaces. The list is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by employee engagement technology partner Energage LLC. The anonymous survey uniquely measures 15 culture drivers that are critical to the success of any organization including alignment, execution, and connection, just to name a few.

“During this very challenging time, Top Workplaces has proven to be a beacon of light for organizations, as well as a sign of resiliency and strong business performance,” said Eric Rubino, Energage CEO. “When you give your employees a voice, you come together to navigate challenges and shape your path forward. Top Workplaces draw on real-time insights into what works best for their organization, so they can make informed decisions that have a positive impact on their people and their business.”

“Given the current climate in education, it is a real honor to receive the Top Workplace Award for the first time,” stated Tom Gill, President of Urban Community School. “The sense of community on our campus, the strengths of our partnerships, and the pursuit of our mission have sustained and inspired our community during a most challenging time. Our work is never done but an accolade like this in the face of COVID is a major achievement for Urban Community School.”

ABOUT
Urban Community School (UCS) was founded by the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland in 1968 to ensure Cleveland’s economically disadvantaged children were positioned to grow and thrive. Our mission continues today as we offer an individualized, innovative, and challenging education for students ages 6 weeks through 14 years old (8th grade). Whole child programming supports students’ academic, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual development.

The growing campus, serving nearly 700 students in Ohio City, is home to The MetroHealth System’s Ohio City Health Center, House of Champions, Facing History and Ourselves, The Refugee Response, Urban Squash Cleveland, and USA Lacrosse. In addition, UCS collaborates with over 30 partners to better serve its students and families.

UCS has received numerous awards including recognition as one of Cleveland’s City Champions by The Plain Dealer, a National Green Ribbon School for Environmental Practices and Learning Model, and a School of Excellence by the Cleveland Foundation and The George Gund Foundation.
