WHY:     In Toledo, we know that our city is the epicenter of the University of Michigan-Ohio State University football rivalry! The history between the Michigan and Ohio divide dates back nearly 200 years, when the two states battled over the coveted port City of Toledo and a 468-mile strip of productive land. When Michigan and Ohio State met for the first time in 1897, the Toledo War was within the memories of some still living, and the border war fueled the sport rivalry.

Today, the border battle continues, pitting neighbors against neighbors and dividing households when U-M and OSU take to the gridiron each November. The Rally of the Rivals will be a fun way to channel that enthusiasm and celebrate in downtown Toledo.
