Blaise P. Vargas, age 84, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 26, 2024 at home with loving family by her side. She was born on May 28, 1939 to Julian Sr. and Elvira (Cortez) Rodriguez in Toledo, OH. Blaise worked at Libbey Glass for many years before retiring. She also owned and operated Ray & Son’s along with her husband, making it a family and friends gathering place for many. Blaise was a longtime member at St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she worked in the cafeteria, was very involved in numerous activities, and volunteered at church festivals. Her faith and religion were very important to Blaise. This was evident in the tradition she carried on since being a young girl by traveling every August 15th, to Carey, OH for the Assumption of Mary.

She was an excellent cook, especially of Mexican food, enjoyed gardening, working in the yard, and listening to Mexican music. Blaise’s greatest passion was her love of her family; she looked forward to any family gathering and spending time with them. Blaise’s smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond “Ray” Vargas, Sr. after 64 years of marriage; son, Robert J. Vargas, Sr.; brothers, Peter Sr., Julian Jr., Alexander Sr., John Sr. and Paul Rodriguez, Sr.; son-in-law, Keith A. Lutman; daughter-in-law, Karen Vargas; grandsons, Seth Vargas, David T. Vargas, Jr. and Tyson Ray Vargas.
