The Lucas County 4-H Summer Camp is an overnight camp for boys and girls ages 8 – 13 years-old. The camp weekend is Saturday, July 27 through Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Camp Palmer (located in Fulton County, near Fayette, Ohio). Beautiful Camp Palmer sits on 146 acres near Harrison Lake State Park. Less than an hour drive from Toledo.
“We are excited to host this special open house to give families a taste of what summer camp has to offer with many fun activities and opportunities to learn,” said Jess Soffee, 4-H Educator for Extension Lucas County. “Membership in a 4-H Club is not required for youth to attend 4-H Summer Camp.”
The OSU Extension is a non-profit educational resource for Lucas County. Included within Extension is 4-H—an informal educational youth development program offered to individuals ages 5 to 19. Besides camping and fair, 4-H Youth Development has additional opportunities for in-school and after-school programming in Lucas County.
“Campers can choose their own activities from many options, including kayaking, zip lining, rock climbing, arts and crafts, swimming, nature study, archery, hiking, teambuilding challenges and scavenger hunts. We want to inspire youth to explore nature, to learn new skills, to engage in physical activities, and to make new friends plus create life-long memories!” said Ms. Soffee.
The 4-H Summer Camp is $180 per youth (discounted rate available for siblings). In addition, there are camp scholarships available to assist with the camp cost for youth with a financial need.
