CLEVELAND, OH, July 11, 2022: Jose Ramirez, Emmanuel Clase and Andres Gimenez were all selected to participate as American League All-Stars. Both Clase and Gimenez will be attending their first Midsummer Classic and Ramirez, will be making his fourth trip.
Ramirez, the Guardians Third Baseman, is batting .290 with 17 home runs and 66 RBI’s (tied for 2nd in the AL). He continues to play despite an injured thumb and leads the team in most categories (runs, hits, doubles, home runs, RBI’s, etc.).
Clase, anchors the Guardians Bull Pen and has saved 19 games, tied for 4th in the league. His 1.49 ERA is amongst the best for the 2nd year closer, that signed a $20 million, five-year contract earlier this year.
For Gimenez, his third year in the Majors has already seen him with career highs in all categories. His current .297 batting average has him near the top 20 for AL hitters. With 40 RBI’s and 9 home runs, the rest of the season should see him get close to 100 RBI’s and 20 home runs.
The All-Star Game will be held on Tuesday, July 19th at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. The 7:30 p.m. EST game can be seen on FOX Sports and will be available in Spanish on FOX Deportes and Univision Radio.
