Benito Pablo Juárez García was the 26th president of Mexico, from 1858 until his death in office in 1872. His birth date of March 21st is celebrated in México on the third Monday in March. He was a lawyer by trade. As a Zapotec, he was the first indigenous president of México and the first indigenous head of state in the postcolonial Americas.
