DETROIT, MI, July 9, 2023: The Tigers were one out away from defeating the visiting Blue Jays, and led 3-1 in the 9th inning.
Unfortunately, the 2nd pitch thrown to Designated Hitter Danny Jansen (#9) by Alex Lange, Relief Pitcher (#55) was hit into the left Center Field bleachers and gave the visiting team a chance to steal the series.
The Tigers were unable to do anything in the bottom of the 9th and that set the stage for Toronto Pitch Hitter Nathan Lukes (#38), to double with one out and score the eventual winning run.
Jordan Romano, Relief Pitcher (#68) came in for the Blue Jays and was able to get the Tigers out to secure his AL Leading 26th save of the season.
The Tigers head into the All Star Break 11 games below .500 and 10 games behind AL Central Leaders, Cleveland Guardians. They’ll go on the road and face Seattle and then Kansas City, before heading back home on the 21st of July.
