KALAMAZOO, MI – Gryphon Place’s 8th Street facility is reopening as the Administrative & Training Center on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. To celebrate, a day of events will be held at 3245 S 8th Street, including a Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony. Gryphon Place invites all partners and members of the community to join in celebration. The event schedule is as follows:

Rise & Thrive Coffee Connect by the Chamber, 7:30 AM – 9:00 AM

Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony, 8:30 AM

Gryphon Place Open House, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

“We are thrilled to reopen and share our renovated facility with the community,” says Maricela, CEO of Gryphon Place. “I am proud that we are able to provide a hybrid working space for staff and for the community to be welcome. We were intentional in making it a space where staff feel appreciated, that we care, and they can work in an environment where they feel they’re thriving.”

In the spring of 2020, Gryphon Place’s staff began working remotely. Since then, the organization has tripled in size, outgrowing the 8th Street facility. To better serve the community’s needs, it was renovated to the Administrative & Training Center. Rennovations included work stations for staff and larger spaces for trainings and support staff training and on-boarding. The renovation also addressed areas of improvement that were identified during the ADA audit conducted by the Disability Network of Southwest Michigan.

The new Administrative & Training Center is also open to support organizations that don’t have training or conference space. Local nonprofits will be able to reserve the new training rooms for free.

In addition, Gryphon Place is in the midst of a Captial Campaign to raise funds for a second location in downtown Kalamazoo. As of January 11, the campaign is 64% toward the goal. The new location at 321 West Cedar Street is expected to be open by summer 2024. This location will make Gryphon Place more visible and accessible to those using public transportation, walking, or biking. It will also provide space to launch two new programs, Justice Lifted and the Community Information Exchange®.
