Oregon, OH: A small group of former staffers, musicians, DJs, and friends gathered Friday evening, June 21, 2024, at Mexico Lindo Restaurant and Cantina, to reminisce and celebrate the life of Rico Neller, who died May 21, 2024.

“Most of us in attendance worked closely with Richard in the early days of La Prensa.” stated Celso Rodriguez. “We had good times with him and created so many memories.”

Others in attendance included Tony Rios, Jr. and his wife Maryori Miranda, Melinda Sanchez, DC Burch, Ramon Perez, Israel Zamarripa, Yvonne Ramos and husband Mike Ibarra, Manny Enriquez and sister Gloria Pizzana, Robert Torres and girlfriend Renee Clarke, friend and legal adviser Chuck Boss, Raquel Rodriguez, and Rico’s son, Rick Keel.

The group shared many stories and memories of their time working with Rico. All agreed that he was a very charismatic and friendly person who attracted many loyal colleagues and who gave selflessly in promoting the Latino communities throughout the mid-west. Among his many passions were the newspaper, music, and politics, which were instrumental in advancing the wellbeing of all communities he served. One would always see Rico at events with his camera recording moments that he would share in La Prensa.

“It was great to reunite with everyone and share memories of our dear friend. He will be forever in our hearts and missed dearly,” said Mr. Rodriguez.

Rico’s son, Rick, indicated he and his sisters are working to ensure their father’s legacy and La Prensa’s future continues for years to come.
