Don’t miss the chance to take advantage of FREE general admission at the Great Lakes Science Center (GLSC), for all youth ages 2-12, on Saturday, July 6, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. GLSC features live science shows, hundreds of hands-on exhibits, and a special temporary exhibition for summer TapeScape: International Tape Station.

This is the third of five free youth days that are funded through a generous gift from the Joan P. Wenk Charitable Fund.

TapeScape: International Tape Station is an all-ages playscape made entirely out of packing tape wrapped around a metal frame – a TapeScape! It harnesses the tensile strength of tape – or tape’s ability to stretch under stress – to form a unique, multisensory installation strong enough for kids and adults to climb on and explore.

Equipped with state-of-the-art lighting and projection mapping technologies, this TapeScape is a fully immersive experience for guests, seven times larger than the one built at GLSC in 2018!

Guests will explore the exhibit to learn about the materials used to support life on the space station and the ongoing research happening aboard right now! Interactive hands-on activities offer fun for families as they learn more about materials used in space.

To accompany the International Tape Station exhibit, NASA’s Glenn Research Center has provided a variety of flight hardware and samples for display that showcase materials that have been flown on the space station. Displays include different types of polymers, thermal control fabric, shape memory alloys, and materials for docking system seals – all tested for durability and resilience outside the station.

Great Lakes Science Center is located at 601 Erieside Ave., Cleveland, OH 44114
