SYLVANIA, OH: Lourdes University is thrilled to announce a special event book launch of Fielder’s Choice, a gripping memoir by Lourdes alumnus, Tim Berta.
Tim Berta, a Lourdes University graduate and former college athlete, shares his remarkable journey in a powerful memoir that delves into the challenges and triumphs he faced following a life-altering event. Tim’s story begins with the devastating Bluffton University baseball team bus crash that claimed the lives of five teammates, the bus driver, and his wife. Tim himself sustained catastrophic injuries and was initially told he would never recover, facing a future constrained to a wheelchair and feeding tube. Despite these predictions, Tim’s story is one of unyielding determination, resilience, and faith. Tim reflects, saying, “I do not remember anything about March 2nd, 2007, but it is a day I will never forget.”
The Fielder’s Choice book launch will take place on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Franciscan Center of Lourdes University, located at 6832 Convent Blvd., Sylvania. The event will be emceed by Lourdes alumna Chrys Peterson and will include a lecture and book signing with Tim Berta.

- Pre-Game Tickets: $50.00 (Includes appetizers, cocktails, and a special opportunity to meet Tim Berta for book signing from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Lourdes University Appold Planetarium Lobby)
- General Admission Tickets: $30.00 (Includes a copy of Tim’s book, lecture, and book signing)
A portion of the proceeds from the event will support the Lourdes Fund and Student Scholarships, contributing to the educational opportunities for future students.
