Mayoral Forum, “Our City, Our Voice, Our Vote,” hosted by the Toledo’s Community Solidarity Response Network (CSRN), went on regardless of the current Democratic Mayor NOT being in attendance.

With roughly 50 people in attendance at the NEW Wayman Palmer, the Mayoral Forum “Our City, Our Voice, Our Vote,” went on without the current Democratic Mayor being in attendance on October 16, 2025. This was truly unfortunate for those in the audience and for those that had submitted questions prior to the event. Why? Because the voters do not get to hear from all those on the ballot about issues that are important to them and that impact our very community, such as their stance on immigration, ICE, the divestment and investment in Isreal, and the sad reality of the possible deployment of the national guard in cities and states like Toledo, Ohio.
Robert Torres, who is running as an Independent and Harold Harris, also running as an Independent, were present and comfortable taking the questions from the audience and questions submitted by area organizations and the community papers, La Prensa and The Sojourner’s Truth; however, they are not the only two on the ballot. The Moderator Toi Creel, founder of Toi Monét Agency, with Brother Washington did a wonderful job filling this gap, yet it was still unfortunate that someone running for the highest elected position in the City of Toledo could not make or speak at the event and to the people.
El Foro de la Alcaldía, “Nuestra Ciudad, Nuestra Voz, Nuestro Voto,” organizado por la Red de Respuesta Solidaria Comunitaria de Toledo (CSRN), se llevó a cabo a pesar de la ausencia del actual alcalde demócrata.

Aproximadamente 50 personas estaban en el NUEVO Wayman Palmer, para el Foro de la Alcaldía “Nuestra Ciudad, Nuestra Voz, Nuestro Voto.” Este evento se llevó a cabo sin la presencia del actual alcalde demócrata el 16 de octubre de 2025. Esto fue realmente lamentable para los asistentes y para quienes habían enviado preguntas antes del evento. ¿Por qué? Porque los votantes no tienen la oportunidad de escuchar a todos los votantes sobre temas que les importan y que impactan a nuestra comunidad, como su postura sobre inmigración, ICE, la desinversión e inversión en Israel, y la triste realidad del posible despliegue de la Guardia Nacional en ciudades y estados como Toledo, Ohio.
Robert Torres, quien se postula como independiente, y Harold Harris, también como independiente, estuvieron presentes y se sintieron cómodos respondiendo las preguntas del público, así como las de organizaciones locales y los periódicos comunitarios La Prensa y The Sojourner’s Truth. Sin embargo, no son los únicos en la boleta. La moderadora Toi Creel, fundadora de la Agencia Toi Monét, junto con Brother Washington, realizó una excelente labor al llenar este vacío. Sin embargo, fue lamentable que alguien que se postula para el cargo electo más alto de la ciudad de Toledo no pudiera asistir ni hablar en el evento ni ante la gente.
