There was no better place to watch Super Bowl LVII (February 8, 2026) than in the heart of Detroit, Michigan’s Mexicantown, at Restaurante Salpicón. The place was packed with excitement as “Bad Bunny,” Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, performed the halftime show. When he did, WOW, the whole place woke up from a game that, during the first half, had been one-sided. The music had everyone singing, dancing, and waving proudly their Puerto Rican flags. This, however, was not the first time a Puerto Rican or someone of Puerto Rican descent has performed the Super Bowl halftime show. Jennifer Lopez (2020) is of Puerto Rican descent, as is Bruno Mars, who headlined the 2014 show, and Ricky Martin, who even during this show had a spot. The show was equally amazing because the football field was filled with palmeras (palm trees), found throughout Puerto Rico, and the rich, beautiful, and colorful Latinx culture was on full display. The halftime showed how hardworking, integrated, and beautiful Puerto Rico and its people are. The restaurant even had an all-you-can-eat Puerto Rican buffet, a Puerto Rican food truck was right outside the doors, and t-shirts were made in memory of Bad Bunny and his historic, all-Spanish show.

No había mejor lugar para ver el Super Bowl LVII en Detroit, Michigan (8 de febrero de 2026), que en el corazón de Mexicantown, en el Restaurante Salpicón. El lugar estaba repleto de emoción, mientras “Bad Bunny,” Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, ofrecía el espectáculo del medio tiempo. ¡Y qué espectáculo! Todo el lugar se animó después de un partido que, durante la primera mitad, había sido bastante aburrido. La música hizo que todos cantaran, bailaran y ondearan con orgullo sus banderas puertorriqueñas. Sin embargo, esta no era la primera vez que un puertorriqueño o alguien de ascendencia puertorriqueña actuaba en el espectáculo del medio tiempo del Super Bowl. Jennifer Lopez (2020) es de ascendencia puertorriqueña, al igual que Bruno Mars, quien encabezó el espectáculo de 2014, y Ricky Martin, quien incluso tuvo una participación en este mismo espectáculo. El espectáculo fue igualmente asombroso porque el campo de fútbol estaba lleno de palmeras, típicas de Puerto Rico, y la rica, hermosa y colorida cultura latina se exhibió en todo su esplendor. El espectáculo del medio tiempo demostró lo trabajadora, integrada y hermosa que es Puerto Rico y su gente. El restaurante incluso ofrecía un bufé puertorriqueño de todo lo que puedas comer, había un camión de comida puertorriqueña justo afuera y se vendían camisetas conmemorativas de Bad Bunny y su histórico espectáculo completamente en español.
