Dr. Ayendy Bonifacio’s book, Dique Dominican, is finally out, and the book release presentation was held at The University of Toledo (UToledo) on February 12, 2026. Dique Dominican is a memoir of Dr. Bonifacio’s life, including his upbringing as a Dominican in Brooklyn, New York, and his migration to the U.S. as a child. The presentation began with Dr. Bonifacio’s wife introducing him, and with him reading powerful and very emotional pages from his book about his relationship with his father. Dr. Bonifacio is a professor of English at The University of Toledo and has also authored the books To the River and We Are Migrants. He has appeared in The New York Times and the Los Angeles Review of Books. He is a writer, poet, and academic who writes about his memories, migration, race/ethnicity, and colonialism in the U.S. During his presentation, he even quoted from his book, Dique Dominican, bell hooks, and Audre Lorde. If you are looking for a new book to read, I highly recommend this one.

El libro del Dr. Ayendy Bonifacio, Dique Dominicano, finalmente se publicó, y la presentación se llevó a cabo en la Universidad de Toledo (UToledo) el 12 de febrero de 2026. Dique Dominicano es una autobiografía de la vida del Dr. Bonifacio, que incluye su crianza como dominicano en Brooklyn, Nueva York, y su migración a Estados Unidos durante su infancia. La presentación comenzó con su esposa presentándolo y él leyendo páginas impactantes y emotivas de su libro sobre su relación con su padre. El Dr. Bonifacio es profesor de inglés en la Universidad de Toledo y también es autor de los libros Al Río y Somos Migrantes. Ha aparecido en The New York Times y el Review of Books de Los Ángeles.
