Springfield High School Student Walkout/Anti-ICE Immigration

The child holding the sign, “Cruelty is not Strength,” is our son Vincent Mullins, Organizer of the Springfield High School Student Walkout/Anti-ICE Immigration Awareness event, said proudly, Mr. & Mrs. Adam and Nikki Hernandez to La Prensa, Inc. “The idea of the walkout started on February 11, 2026, after hearing about even more ICE raids in schools where they detained children who were just looking for a better life here in America,” said Vincent Mullins, age 15, and a Sophomore at Springfield High School in Holland, Ohio. Vincent said, “After that, I knew something had to be done, so I started doing research about previous walkouts and what they did. I knew almost immediately that I had to get it verified by the school. The reason being that I never wanted anyone who participated to be in any academic trouble or get put in a dangerous situation from bystanders, without any protection. So after four separate meetings, I finally got the day set,” Vincent says, his “issue isn’t with ICE as a whole, but the corruption is too much. To hear the discrimination our nation has for my people forced my hand.”
The Student Walkout/Anti-ICE Immigration Awareness event was a peaceful, school-approved, safe event that was held on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Springfield High School in Holland, Ohio. It was designed to raise awareness about ICE enforcement and how it harms students, families, and our community. The students stood in protest against unjust immigration practices and in solidarity for “compassion, unity, and respectful dialogue.”

El niño que organizó “La Crueldad No Es Fuerza” contra ICE es nuestro hijo Vincent Mullins, estudiante de Springfield High School, dijo con orgullo el Sr. y la Sra. Adam y Nikki Hernández a La Prensa, Inc. “La idea comenzó el 11 de febrero de 2026, tras escuchar más redadas de ICE en escuelas donde detuvieron a niños que solo buscaban una vida mejor aquí en los Estados Unidos,” dijo Vincent Mullins, de 15 años y estudiante de Springfield High School en Holland, Ohio. Vincent dijo: “Después de eso, supe que había que hacer algo, así que empecé a investigar sobre los paros anteriores y lo que hicieron. Supe casi de inmediato que tenía que hacer que la escuela lo confirmara. La razón es que nunca quise que nadie que participara tuviera problemas académicos o se viera en una situación peligrosa por parte de los espectadores, sin ninguna protección. Así que tras cuatro reuniones separadas, por fin he fijado el día,” dice Vincent: Su “problema no es con ICE en general, pero la corrupción es demasiado. Escuchar la discriminación que nuestra nación tiene hacia mi pueblo me obligó a actuar.”
El evento fue un evento pacífico, aprobado por la escuela y seguro, que se celebró el jueves 5 de marzo de 2026 en el Springfield High School. Fue diseñado para concienciar sobre la aplicación de ICE y cómo perjudica a estudiantes, familias y a nuestra comunidad. Los estudiantes protestaron contra prácticas migratorias injustas y en solidaridad con la “compasión, la unidad y el diálogo respetuoso.”
