The Monroe Street Neighborhood Center Toledo Tool Library kicked off their “Helping to Transform a Community and Lives” Toledo on May 27, 2025. This program allows people to borrow up to five tools at a time for one week. It is like borrowing a book from the library, but in this case, they are tools you borrow to fix up your home and/or for community projects. Because individuals, groups, and even corporations can sponsor the Toledo Tool Library. If a person, group, or corporation is interested in borrowing tools, such as an electric drill, cutters, a sawhorse, etc. all they need to do is the following: 1) become a member by filling out their application form that also goes over their “Tool Lending Agreement,” 2) pay the “sliding scale” membership fee that is based on income or is/was awarded as a gift, and 3) prove their identity and residency. This program is only open to residents of the Greater Toledo area and adults over the age of 18. The sliding annual membership scale is based on annual income. If you make $10,000- $20,000 annually, it only costs you $10 a year. From $10, it goes up another $10 on every $10,000 you make.
The Toledo Tool Library is located in Toledo’s Bancroft-Upton-Monroe-Auburn (BUMA) Neighborhood at 3557 Monroe Street, Toledo, Ohio. A $500 donation makes you a “Golden Hammer Sponsor.” The Golden Hammer Sponsorship helps the organization buy bigger ticketed items that have not been donated, and it comes with a lifetime membership and invitation to all their special events. A $250 Silver Nail Sponsor helps families who cannot afford the annual membership to become a member, and the sponsor gets an invitation to all the Toledo Tool Library’s special events. A $100 General Annual Membership helps the organization make repairs to the tools and helps in replacing batteries. Si una persona, grupo o empresa está interesada en tomar prestadas herramientas, como un taladro eléctrico, cortadores, un caballete, etc., solo necesita hacer lo siguiente: 1) hacerse miembro completando su formulario de solicitud que también incluye su “Contrato de Préstamo de Herramientas,” 2) pagar la cuota de membresía basada en los ingresos o que era un regalo, y 3) comprobar su identidad y residencia. Este programa solo está abierto a residentes del área metropolitana de Toledo y adultos mayores de 18 años. La cuota de membresía anual es afirmada en los ingresos anuales. Si ganas $10,000 o $20,000 al año, solo le cuesta $10 al año. A partir de $10, el costo aumenta $10 por cada $10,000 que ganas.
