On Sunday, August 9th, for the second week in a row, hundreds of people lined the streets of the ICE field office in Blue Ash, a suburb of Cincinnati, in support of the Haitian and Syrian residents who have lost their Temporary Protective Status (TPS).
The large Haitian community in Springfield, Ohio, has seen a network of churches, civil society groups, and immigrant advocates champion their presence in Ohio. That community was made famous by JD Vance and Donald Trump amplifying lies about the Springfield Haitians eating pets. This past Sunday, a multi-faith and multi-racial presence lined the streets, holding signs, chanting, and cheering Haitians as they were on their way to their immigration appointments. Supporters came as far as Cleveland and Ann Arbor to “bear witness”–to condemn ICE, and to support the Haitians, some of whom were provided with ankle monitors pending upcoming legal hearings about their status. The Cincinnati-based immigrant dignity group Ignite Peace and the Miami Valley Immigration Coalition helped organize these demonstrations.

Residentes de Cincinnati Llenan las Calles en Apoyo a los Residentes Haitianos y Sirios

El domingo 9 de agosto, por segunda semana consecutiva, cientos de personas se alinearon en las calles de la oficina de campo de ICE en Blue Ash, un suburbio de Cincinnati, en apoyo a los residentes haitianos y sirios que han perdido su Estatus de Protección Temporal (TPS).
