Weekend Drop-In Workshops at Casa de Rosado
Join Casa de Rosado, 204 E. Mt. Hope Ave, Lansing, MI, every Saturday and Sunday from 1–4 PM for hands-on cultural workshops during Hispanic Heritage Month!
Saturdays are Sugar Skull Days! Decorate a sugar skull in memory of an ancestor and learn about the 3,000-year-old Aztec/Olmec tradition that inspired this beloved Día de los Muertos practice.
Sundays feature a rotating lineup of unique workshops for all ages:
- Sunday, Oct 12: Learn Día de los Muertos Sugar Skull Makeup Techniques or learn the basics of building an ofrenda for your ancestors or a loved one
- Sunday, Oct 19: Bake and taste Pan de Muertos (Bread of the Dead) in our final workshop of the season
Bring your family, friends, and curiosity — each session is drop-in style, free (donations appreciated) and open to all!
Build An Ofrenda & Celebrate Día de Los Muertos!
You’re invited to build an ofrenda, altar, in memory of a departed loved one! Casa de Rosado is calling on families, artists, community members, and organizations to create ofrendas — traditional or contemporary — honoring our ancestors by celebrating the Aztec roots of Día de los Muertos.
This is a long-held community tradition open to all families respectful of this Aztec tradition, not a competition. Sign up to build an ofrenda by emailing contact@casaderosado.org with “ofrenda” in the header or by registering here: https://tinyurl.com/44yahx93
