TOLEDO, Ohio, July 1, 2026: There’s still time for readers of all ages to participate in the Toledo Lucas County Public Library’s Summer Read challenge. Through August 1, 2026, community members can earn prizes simply by signing up and reading for 30 days between June 1 and Aug. 1st.
Even readers who haven’t signed up yet can still join the challenge and count the days they’ve already spent reading this summer. Participants may register online, through Beanstack or at any Toledo Library location.
“As summer break continues, there’s still plenty of time to make reading part of your family’s routine,” said Nancy Eames, the Library’s youth services coordinator. “Summer Read encourages people to read what interests them, discover new authors and topics, and build a lifelong love of reading. Whether you’ve already finished several books or are just getting started, we hope everyone will join us.”
Summer Read encourages reading for pleasure while helping children, teens and adults maintain strong reading habits during the summer months. By giving readers the freedom to choose books and topics that interest them, the challenge inspires curiosity and lifelong learning while making reading a fun part of summer.
Approximately 17,000 readers have already registered for Summer Read and have logged more than 71,000 days of reading.
Participants who complete Summer Read receive a completion prize while supplies last and are automatically entered into grand prize drawings for Nintendo Switch Lites, Kindles, gift cards and more.
Readers can participate in Summer Read in one of three ways:
Pick up a paper tracker at any Toledo Library location.
Register online at toledolibrary.org/summer.
Track reading through a Beanstack account or the Beanstack app.
Summer Read continues through Aug. 1.
Summer Read is supported in part by The Library Legacy Foundation, Friends of the Library and Directions Credit Union.
