DETROIT, MI, July 25, 2022: The San Diego Padres strolled into Comerica Park hoping to get a few interleague wins against the struggling Tigers.  What they ran into was what many Tiger fans had hoped for – an explosive offense.  The Tigers seen 3 hitters slam homers into the stands, with Catcher Eric Haase hitting a Grand Slam in the 3rd inning.

Much was said about the Padres All-Star Third Baseman Manny Machado, who was held hitless in 4 attempts at the plate.  Leftfielder Jurickson Profar, provided an early spark for the visiting team, hitting a solo home run in the top of the 1st.  The Padres managed to score another 3 runs in the 5th, to make the score 4 -9.  The final score of the game was Detroit 12, San Diego 4.

The Tigers offense was sparked by 2 home runs from their Third Baseman – Jeimer Canelario.  They also had homers from Miguel Cabrera and Haase.  While Drew pitched a good game for the Tigers, striking out four he also gave up four runs.  Middle relief pitcher Will Vest was credited with the win and is no 2-2.

The series continues at Comerica Park with two more games.  The Padres will return home on Friday to face the AL Central’s 1st Place Minnesota Twins.  The Tigers go on the road this weekend and visit the Toronto Blue Jays, who are in 2nd in the AL East.
