Elfida Guerra Jasso passed away Sunday December 11, 2022 in Spring Meadows Care Center at the age of 87. She was born June 24, 1935 in Edinburg, TX to Serapio and Manuela (Maldonado) Guerra and had three brothers and five sisters.

In 1951, Elfida at the age of 16 moved to Toledo with her sister and got a job at Mercy Hospital where she worked in the pediatric care unit until 1985. She was married to Antonio L. Portillo for 25 years until he passed in 1980.

Elfida then moved back to Texas to care for her mother and worked at the Boys & Girls Club of Houston, TX. She met and married Jesse “Roland” Jasso until his passing in 2011.

Elfida moved back to Toledo to be closer to her sons. She enjoyed and loved to dance to Mexican music and was never shy to have “cold beer and a shot of whiskey”.

Elfida loved to bake but most of all she loved to spend time with her family and would call her sons every day.

She is preceded in death by her husbands and son Juan Portillo and is survived by her sons Armando Portillo, Edward Portillo, Michael (Rose) Portillo and Gary (Rachel) Portillo; sister Mary Alice Leal; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved pup Zoey.

Her family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Sunday from 3 – 7 PM where a Rosary will be recited at 6 PM. Funeral prayers will be offered Monday in the funeral home at 9:15 AM followed by Funeral Mass in Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral 2535 Collingwood Blvd.Toledo at 10 AM with interment to follow at Restlawn Cemetery.
