Emmanuel Clase, Right Handed Pitcher and Closer (#48)

CLEVELAND, OH, September 16, 2022: The Cleveland Guardians celebrated Hispanic Heritage Night by pulling out a come from behind win against the visiting Minnesota Twins.  The 20,000 plus fans on hand watched a pitchers duel that had Triston McKenzie (#24), the Guardians Roberto Clemente Award Nominee, pitching against the Twins Bailey Ober (#16).  McKenzie pitched 7 strong innings, striking out 8 and giving up 3 runs.  Ober allowed 1 hit in 5 innings, striking out 5 and did not give up a run.

Jose Miranda (#64) knocked in the first run in the 3rd, hitting his 22nd double of the season.  In the 4th, Jake Clave (#8), hit his 4th home run of the season and with one on the Twins led 3-0.

In the 7th inning, the magic began for the host Guardians.  Myles Straw (#7), singled and Andres Gimenez (#0) scored.  Ahmed Rosario (#1), then singled and knocked in both Owen Miller (#6) and Straw (#7), tying the game at 3 apiece.

In the bottom of the 8th inning, it was a wild pitch by Twins Jhoan Duran (#59), that scored Ernie Clement (#28) from second, allowing the Guardians to take the lead 4-3.  Guardians All-Star Closer Emmanuel Clase (#48) pitched the final inning to secure the win and record his 36th save of the season.

The series with the Twins continued throughout the weekend with the Guardians wining both games of a double header (5-1 and 7-6) on Saturday and the Twins winning (3-0) on Sunday.  The series will wrap up on Monday the 19th.
