EAST LANSING, MI, December 1, 2022: As part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, the home team Michigan State Spartans hosted the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Both teams came into the game with a 5-2 record; the visiting team winning its last two, while the host, had lost two in a row.
Georgia Tech outperformed the Spartans at the free throw line, which may have allowed the visitors to escape with the win. The visitors made 16 of 19 free throws, versus 15 of 25 for the host.
The Yellow Jackets were led by Bianca Jackson, Guard (#10) who scored 22 and had 3 assists. Three Georgia Tech players had 4 rebounds apiece including Spaniard Nerea Hermosa, Center (#20), Tonie Morgan, Guard (#5) and Avyonce Carter, Guard (#15). Eylia Love, Guard/forward (#24) also helped defensively, by creating chaos and ended up with 5 steals. Kamaria McDaniel, Guard (#5) had an outstanding game for the Spartans, scoring 26. Dee Dee Hagemann, Guard (#0) led the team with 7 assists. Swede Matilda Ekh, Guard/Forward (#11) had 8 rebounds for the home team.
The next game for the Spartans (6-3), will be against Purdue (7-1), when the open up the Big Ten Season.
