YPSILANTI, MI, Saturday, February 11, 2023: With an 8 game winning streak on the line, the visiting Rockets were hoping to extend it to 9 against the host Eagles. However, with 7:02 remaining in regulation, Toledo was trailing EMU 55-54 and something needed to happen to keep the streak alive.
JT Shumate, Forward (#32) was fouled and after making both free throws, the Rockets took the lead and never looked back. The final score was Toledo 70 and EMU 63.
Ray J Dennis, Guard (#10) continued his prowess, scoring 18 and pulling down 10 rebounds for Toledo; both a team high.
Setric Millner, Jr., Forward (#4) and Dante Maddox, Jr., Guard (#21) both contributed 17 to the winning team.
EMU was led by Tyson Acuff, Guard (#5) who scored a game high 36 points. Emoni Bates, Forward (#21) pulled down 10 rebounds for the host team.
Toledo will host Miami of OH on Valentines Day, and will try to extend their winning streak to 10. The Eagles also playing on the 14th, will host the Akron Zips and the MAC’s leading scoring in Xavier Castaneda, Guard (#13).
